Bahamians
- Both parties must be present at the time of the application.
- The parties must produce Photo Identification, Drivers license or Voters card will
only be accepted.
- If either party has been divorced, an original or certified copy of the Decree Absolute
must be produced.
- If either party is widowed, an original or copy of the death certificate of the deceased
spouse must be produced.
- If either applicant is aged forty (40) years or older and single, a mandatory search is
necessary. A minimum period of two (2) weeks is necessary for the search. A license would be issued after the search is completed.
Non-Bahamians (Tourists / Other)
- Both parties must be the Bahamas at the time of the application.
- Both parties must have resided in the Bahamas
for not less than a day prior to the date of the application.
- If either party is a minor under 18 years of age, parental consent is required.
- If either party has been divorced, an original or certified copy of the divorce decree with a raised
or colored seal must be produced.
- If either party is widowed, an original or certified copy of the death certificate of the deceased
spouse with a raised or colored seal must be produced.
- If either party is unmarried a declaration certifying this fact must be sworn before a notary public.
Such declaration must accompany the application for the Marriage License.
- The parties must produce some form of Photo identification. A passport stand alone; however, if you
do not have a passport, a driver’s license accompanied by a birth certificate will be fine.
- The parties must produce evidence of the date of their arrival in the Bahamas
by producing the immigration card which is received upon entrance to the Bahamas.
- An interview is mandatory before the license is given.
